This program is for individuals wishing to enter the health care field as Personal Support Workers and provide health care in community settings or long term care facilities. The Limestone District School Board's Personal Support Worker (PSW) training program has met all professional and educational requirements as outlined by the Personal Support Worker Educational Program Accreditation Standard.

Become a certified Personal Support Worker (PSW), earn secondary school credits, and gain quality employment in the health care field. Our program is Provincially Accredited (OCSA-660 hours) and has been preparing outstanding health care providers since 1998.

Program Mandate

LC-Limestone Education Centre provides high quality Personal Support Worker (PSW), education in the Kingston area.  We recognize, and strongly support, the role of well trained, competent and caring Personal Support Workers in our community.  The PSW student will be part of a multi-disciplinary health care team in a supportive role, providing compassionate and professional care to vulnerable individuals, enabling the individuals/clients/residents/patients to achieve the highest potential of quality of life.  Through our 660 hour PSW program, students receive in-class instruction, as well as practical training utilizing both community and facility placements.

Full Time, Day Program, 8.5 months (September through May)

Academic Credits:

Six (6) credits which can be applied to Ontario Secondary School Diploma requirements

  • Be at least 19 years old by the completion of the course.
  • Proof of a level of fitness (mental and physical), necessary to perform the duties required of a PSW, as assessed by your doctor.
  • Proof of current immunization coverage including Hepatitis B and Influenza.
  • Proof of a current 2 Step Mantoux TB screen.
  • Proof of a current clear Criminal Background Check (CBC), vulnerable sector, by the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC).
  • A photocopy of your Canadian Birth Certificate, or confirmation of residency and eligibility to study in Canada.
  • A photocopy of your secondary school transcript. If you have an IEP, please provide us with a copy so that we may support you accordingly.
  • A current Resume or a list of jobs you have had along with dates employed.
